We’re down to the last 2 days of the Pepsi Refresh Project.

How could we not move up with The Berrics still pushing our project with banners and pre-roll commercials? We’re in the Top 10, anything is possible so we’re winning this regardless. In more ways than you might think. . .
We have a huge support base from all over the world voting for us. Let’s take these last days to double, triple and quadruple our efforts and close this month our swinging.

The real beauty of this month’s efforts has been witnessing the display of support, unity and love pouring in sending the message to all the non-believers that skateboarding and the construction of public, legal and safe spaces to skateboard in are important to our community- and so many others.

I’ve seen Homebase’s name in the biggest skateboard magazines, I’ve had a chance to work with some of my heroes in skateboarding like Steve Berra, Kerry Getz, Danny Pensyl, I see my friends faces on The Berrics and I go out of the 610 to hear people saying they can’t wait to visit our skateplaza.

I attended a fund raiser for the Southside Film Festival this weekend where I shook hands with local community leaders, City Council members, professors and business-people who were all equally excited to see the skateplaza on opening day.

Our efforts have not been nothing- even if we don’t pull into 1st or 2nd place. This whole Pepsi Refresh Project brought us all together closer as a more determined group with even stronger allies to help us find the funding we need to complete all three phases of our skateplaza.

I think it’s now an appropriate time to discuss the dreaded “What if. . . “
I’ve never spoke about what happens if we don’t win (GASP) this month’s Pepsi Refresh Project Grant because it’s been important to keep everyone motivated and focused on success. But it would be irresponsible of me not to tell you what happens if we don’t win. There is a Silver Lining to all this. . .
1) The Bethlehem Skateplaza will automatically be rolled into April’s $250,000 Pepsi Grant race because of our high ranking. Get ready to vote again!
2) Pepsi’s main question when the City met with them about sponosrship of the skateplaza was “How do we really know this project has as much interest as you say it does?”
I think the comments page on the Pepsi page speak for itself.
3) Construction is being ramped up so if the weather co-operates Phase 1 of the skateplaza might just be open by June now!
