the thursday drop (on friday): supporting the bethlehem skateplaza
Categories: Bethlehem Skateplaza, Inventory
We as a skateboard, BMX community and community in general have been supporting the Bethlehem Skateplaza for a number of years now.
Our fund raising events over the years that have raised close to $7,000 (That’s a lowball figure too) going back to the first Backed in Black, the “Where the Heart is” video premiere and the Tattoo Expo Artshow. Not to mention voting everyday for our Pepsi Refresh Project and coming out to City Council meetings and speaking out for the skateplaza are
The most recent fund raising events arranged by Homebase was the Spring on 4th Used Clothing Sale and Manny Mania /8 Year Anniversary Party.
After deducting our expenses here’s what we donated to the Bethlehem Skateplaza- and that’s not counting the Source Bikeshop’s BBQ and the money raised at Starters Riverport which would tack on another $1,000.00+
So what else can we do to help?
One way you can help is by telling all your friends and family to cop one of these “I Support the Bethlehem Skateplaza” T-Shirts. Maybe it’s not your favorite color, maybe it’s a little too loud of a design for you- it’s all good, just remember that 100% OF THE PROCEEDS GO TO THE SKATEPLAZA. They are only $12 too and I’m sure Mom or Dad would love to wear it in support of keeping you out of real trouble.
The T-shirts are available at Homebase and other skate and BMX shops in the area. I want to do whatever it takes to sell all 24 shirts we have in the shop so whether that’s offering a Homebase shirt for a 2 for $20 deal, I want to move these shirts in support of our new skateplaza that’s opening in under a month.
Homebase has teamed up with an anonymous source to hook one lucky person up with a HUGE BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING SPREE at Homebase.
The good-hearted skateplaza supporter gave us $500, we are going to match that $500 and try to find another sponsor to pitch in even more to make that a grand total of over $1,000 for you to spend for gear for the next school year. Once the details are set, we will be selling raffle tickets all Summer long to raise as much money as possible for the Bethlehem Skateplaza because we want to see Phase 2 and 3 done as soon as possible.
If you have an idea to raise awareness and funds, in or outside the skateboarding community- please e-mail us so we can help you get your idea started. This is a community effort that will all of us working in our own social circles to complete this enormous skateplaza. We can do this together as community.
