the ride for adam.

Going out skateboarding is always fun- or at least it should be.

Getting asked to skateboard for a good cause is even better.

Getting asked to skateboard, have all the food and drinks you can handle plus a dunk tank and few hundred bikers is damn right amazing.

The Ride of Adam is a charity that 100% benefits Adam Recke.  Adam has a rare terminal disease called Niemann-Pick Type C that only has a estimated 500 cases worldwide.  After meeting Adam and seeing how happy he is in the face a so much adversity, it’s hard to imagine why I would complain about anything in my life.

The homies from the Source Bike Shop came out to support Adam’s cause alongside the Homebase shop team and friends.

The demo got started while I worked a shift at the shop.  Before I headed up I kidnapped some kids and forced them to skate in the 100 degree weather- but it was for a good cause so it’s okay.

The “ride” in Ride for Adam comes from the benefit ride all these Harley types go on to raise money for Adam.  Kind of like a 5k but on a motorcycle- seems like more fun.

2009′s Ride for Adam raised $90,000 to help bolster research for Neimann-Picks disease and help kids like Adam all over the world.

Thanks to Adam and his family for allowing us to be part of such a great event.  Thanks to the skaters and riders who came out and endured the tar.  Many many thanks to everyone who provided transportation for the ramps as well.
