the berrics has our back.

And it’s all thanks to this kid. . .

By now most everyone has seen the clip of our run-in with this kid who let us all know we need to “tastes the motherfucking fury.”

The Berrics had a taste it and it tasted good.

They used snippets from our video in pre-roll clips that played before weekly segments like “Wednesdays with Reda” and “Text Yo Self.”  So to thank Ryan, one of the guys who keeps the Berrics running behind the scenes, I sent him the picture above as motivation to keep doing a good job.

Ten minutes later I get this e-mail. . .

Random, an e-mail from Steve Berra quoting our video clip.

I get the e-mail while working on our new Berrics Unified banner ads and proposal to ask the Berrics and other skateboard media sources to help us promote the Bethlehem Skateplaza and the Pepsi Refresh Project.  So I e-mail him back saying something along the lines of “Haha- we think the same thing is funny and by the way, have you heard about The Bethlehem Skateplaza…”  Actually, I give him a good rundown about the project and the huge opportunity we have with Pepsi while trying not to fan out too hard. . .

2 minutes later I get this back…

Let me try and explain how big this is if The Berrics gets involved to anyone who may not know about the phenomena The Berrics website is in skateboarding today.  MILLIONS of people all over the world visit The Berrics website. The site was written about in the Wall Street Journal or some other legitimate business publication talking about how they have an incredible ability to reach such an enormous amount of people with each post they make. . .

Think about that. . .

All those people, those skaters, those non-skaters, those skateboard companies all hearing about The Bethlehem Skateplaza and finding out they can help us by voting for us on the Pepsi Refresh Project.  A kid in Finland will probably see our skateplaza, be just as psyched to see getting built, psyched The Berrics is backing the project, sign onto the Pepsi site and give us his vote.   Imagine if that repeats over and over and over again.

Then think if Transworld, The Skateboard Mag, Thrasher, Fuel TV, ESPN, Hypebeast, The Hundreds and all these other websites pick up and link the story too?

That’s the potential this has to benefit the skateplaza- not to mention legitimizing all the hard work we’ve put into this project and Homebase itself.

Of course I wrote back an e-mail thanking him and what The Berrics does for skating and independent skateshops and got this back right away. . .

Then it hit me that maybe this was too good to be true.  So I e-mailed Ryan again and asked him if that was REALLY Steve Berra and if this was real talk.  Which is why I didn’t post any details too soon.

Saturday afternoon I got this e-mail. . .

Steve is in Atlanta right now and I’ll know more in the next day or so about when he’s making his trip to Homebase.  That means I have a lot of work to do so I’m out.  I just wanted to share with you how big of a step this is for Homebase and the skateplaza.

I am literally more excited about what this can do for us than Groundbreaking Day and that was huge.

I can not stress enough, please be sure to register to vote on Pepsi Refresh and make sure anyone and everyone you know is backing us to win this $250,000.

Voting starts MARCH 1st.
