“spring on 4th.” saturday april 24th. save the date now

Just a reminder that Spring On 4th is coming up on Saturday April 24th.

Come out.  Eat some chili.  Buy some used clothing.  Get some skating in.  All while supporting the Bethlehem Skateplaza.

“The 15th Annual “Spring on Fourth! What’s on Third? Street Festival and Chili Cook-off will be held on April 24th 2010 from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. South Bethlehem’s galleries, shops and stores are once again joining together for an enjoyable afternoon of music, food and fun. This year’s festival will be an extra special celebration with awesome events planned by community leaders throughout South Bethlehem.

This year’s “Spring on Fourth! What’s on Third?” chili contest, which takes place from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., features 30+ entries ranging from spicy, five-alarm chili to vegetarian versions of the dish.  Patrons are invited to sample the entries, with a block of three tickets – good for three samples – selling for $1 each.  New this year will be a passport ticket system available for pre-purchase; the passports can be purchased at the Banana Factory’s Gift shop, Comfort Suites, Cleo’s and Homebase Skate shop and are $5.00 each for 15 tastings.” -Quoted from the Spring On 4th Website.

Instead of the usual mayhem we bring to S. New St we are using the day to rally support for the Bethlehem Skateplaza in a couple different ways throughout the day with the help of The Source Bikeshop, Audio Dynamikz, Red Bull and our other sponsors.

VOTE VOTE VOTE:

Not only will we have information on hand to help us with the last push for votes for the Bethlehem Skateplaza on the Pepsi Refresh site we will have a WIFI VOTING STATION set up so people can register for the first time or put their daily vote in to help us the $250,000 grant.

BENEFIT USED CLOTHING SIDEWALK SALE:

ALL the used clothing you bring in this month to get a discount on new clothing will be re-sold during Spring On 4th to benefit the Bethlehem Skateplaza.  Come check out the rolling racks that will be in the street filled with “vintage” skate apparel. T-Shirts will be: $2.  Wovens and other tops: $5.  Jackets, sweatshirts and jeans: $10 Anything not sold will be donated to a local shelter as well.

The Homebase Swap Sale is a win-win-win:  You get rid of old clothes, get a discount on new clothes and you benefit the skateplaza.

S.K.A.T.E. TO SUPPORT THE SKATEPLAZA:

Throughout the day we’ll hold different skate contests that you can enter for a donation to the skateplaza to win cash and prizes from Homebase and our other sponsors.  So don’t forget your wallet and your board or else you’ll be bummed and chilling on the sidelines all day.

Spring On 4th Game of S.K.A.T.E. Tournament:

It’ll be just like the Berrics tournament except it’s all going down in ONE day.  Here’s how you enter:

- 32 spots will be available to all skaters.  Pre-register and hold your spot by making your $10 donation at Homebase this month before the 24th.

- Be at Spring On 4th by 12pm to find out who you face.  Round 1 will start at 1pm.  Better start working on those switch lazer flips.

- First place will take won $100.  2nd & 3rd will take home prizes donated from our sponsors.

High & Long Ollie Contests:

- Pretty self explanatory right?  Whoever ollies the highest and longest wins.

- Register on the spot for a $5 donation to the skateplaza.

- Top 3 places will win prizes donated from our sponsors.

Audio Dynamikz DJ Cap Cee will be providing music all day to keep things moving.  If you’re 21+ be sure to come out to Starters Riverport for the Glow 3- the “official” afterparty for Spring On 4th.

What else could you have to do?

Skateboarding, supporting the skateplaza, hanging out with good people outside.  Winter’s over- come out and enjoy life outdoors again.

And just in case you need anymore encouragement, here’s what went down the past two years . . .
