preparing for “remix” with colbert
Categories: Shop News
The idea behind March’s L.V.A.N. artshow is to have 20 artists recreate the artwork from an album that influenced their lives. One of our shop riders, Andrew Colbert was getting ready to work on his piece so I tagged along.

Started off by diggin’ in the ‘crates at Play It Again Records. Found some classics in the bargin crates too:

And some random vinyl artwork . . .

Just a reminder, the Backed In Black Griptape Artshow is coming up in April. Anyone interested in entering should stop by Homebase and pick up your sheet of griptape ($5).

Still digging . . .

It was kind of crazy being in a record shop, it made me realize I haven’t stepped in one in a long time since the iTunes and MP3′s are how we get music now. I felt like I was in Empire Records but without Warren.
Did you ever see that movie? I think Tim Gavin, the CEO of Podium (Lakai, DVS, Matix) is one of the skaters (0:31) in the closing scene after they save the record store from the suits.
Let’s hope that’s the story for all independent businesses- skateshops included.

We had to drive to Dick Blick and we passed this great billboard on the way. Screw marrying a girl like that.

Getting artsy at the art supply store. Mad art.
I can’t show you what Colbert’s cover looks like but here’s a hint:
See you all on the 6th.
