No this isn’t a commercial for my favorite fast food restaurant, Long John Silver’s and their delicious, flaky, deep fried fish, smothered in tartar sauce, vinegar or hot sauce . . . . Oh wait, maybe it is.
Maybe that’s the plan behind the Palmer Township Long John Silver’s offering their parking lot a s legal place for skaters to shred their hearts out in every Thursday.
If it is, I’m not mad.

It’s a rare occasion to witness a corporate company step up the the plate and gets involved with community affairs.
Especially when it has to do with providing kids a place to play.
Throw skateboarding into the mix and you have an event that rivals the birth of a unicorn.

AJ Rogers is a skater from Easton who helps operate “Skurch,” a skateboarding/ Bible study that supports Easton skaters by giving them an indoor place to skate it also offers support to kids dealing with issues they may not get guidance for at home or school. He is also involved with this temporary effort to provide skaters with a place to go since Easton has no skatepark. The Skurch ramps and grindboxes will be moved to the Long John Silver’s parking lot every Thursday this month. If all goes well, maybe longer AKA- throw all your fish and chips baskets in the trash. Not in the parking lot.
AJ does need help moving ramps so if you can help or if you want more info on Skurch, e-mail HERE.

HOW SKATERS CAN GET INVOLVED WITH THE EASTON SKATEPARK PROJECT.
Since the tragic death of Robert Mitchell, a young skater who was involved with an effort to re-build a skatepark in Easton the City has re-opened talks to use a $25,o00 grant for a skatepark. The project is in the planning stages and there are regular meetings at the Easton Youth Center at 4:30pm on Wednesday to discuss design and location. The location they are looking at right now is lower Hacketts Park- a spot some skaters build cement block ledges at last Summer only to have a douchebag senselessly destroy the spot. I’d encourage every Easton skater to get invovled in the process.
The more unified you stand against “The Man” the stronger the stronger the effort will be.
