It seems anytime someone has a complaint about a skatepark it’s one of three things:

TRASH, VULGARITY & ROWDY BEHAVIOR

As minimal and as unfair as they seem these issues seem- because all these acts happen at your local basketball court, tennis court or football game- they can still potentially be the reason your local skatepark gets temporarily or permanently closed.

Here’s an article that just ran in the Morning Call.  Just think of how lame it will be if the actions of kids in a county no where near here could effect our chances of getting our skateplaza built because people see these characteristics in our skateboarding/bmx community.

Skate park spawning complaints

Coaldale residents cite rowdy behavior, vulgarity, noise.

A skate park that Lansford built on land it owns just inside neighboring Coaldale has some residents concerned about rowdy behavior, vulgar language, noise and litter.

Lansford in June temporarily installed the equipment at Coaldale’s Ashton Hill Park. ”It’s not going over very well,” Coaldale Councilman Tom Keerans told Lansford Borough Council last week. ”We’re here seeking an amiable, joint solution.”

Keerans, who was at the meeting with several other Coaldale Council members, said they’ve heard complaints about young adults who use the park.

Like I said before, how we look in the public eye is very important right now since we’re asking the city to build us a huge skateplaza that some people can see as a huge problem in the community . . . .

Put your trash in the trashcan, try not to curse in front of parents and elderly folks and no fight is worth fighting- in the skatepark.
