(Jay Sigafoos.  1978)Jay Sigafoos may not be the first person who skated in the Lehigh Valley but I don’t think it can be argued that he’s been skating longer and harder (pause) then any one else whether it’s on a ramp, at a ledge spot or down a set of stairs.  30 year’s later- he’s still doing all of it.

2009 Jay.

Jay’s about to go under the knife for another knee surgery for the _ _ _ _ time this Fall.  It will defintely not be the same without his energy and ability pushing everyone else at the ramp this Winter but we look forward to the sessions next Spring when he heals up.

Skateboarding’s history runs deep in the 610 and it’s thanks to guys like Jay and Ken Sigafoos, Matt Fegley, Chris Busentiz, Lawrenzo Sanders and so many others that have kept the scene alive and have inspired so many of us to keep it going.

It’s important to know where you came from to know where you’re going and that’s why we’re bringing it back to the 80′s for this year’s Homebase Halloween Skatejam.  Come as you want but the Homebase Crew is bringing it back to neon prints, hip packs, hightops and short shorts- well, maybe not short shorts.  Practice your early grab judo airs for the Jump Ramp Jump-Off Contest

Working in the flyer now so check back for more details.  Just save the date: Saturday October 24th.

All photos of Jay were taken from his Facebook Album- befriend him and see the rest.
