It’s no secret that the Bethlehem Skateplaza needs our help right now to make sure Phase 2 gets built complete this Summer. Homebase is teaming up with our friends in the skateboard industry to reward everyone out here doing their part to support the expansion of our skateplaza. BRICK BY BRICK, WE’LL COMPLETE THE SKATEPLAZA.

Every month we will be raffling off a new prize donated from a skateboard, clothing or footwear company. It’s a win-win-win. You support the skateplaza, get a chance to win free stuff and in the end you get more skateplaza to skate.

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT:

We are currently $75,000.00 short of the amount needed to COMPLETE the 2nd Phase of the Bethlehem Skateplaza. The City of Bethlehem has already raised over $300,000.00 and now they need our help to raise the rest of the funds or else Phase 2 will be built without some major sections of skateable obstacles. Over 2,000 people came out to the grand opening and thousands more have come over the past 2 years the skateplaza has been opened. Tore through the shoes you got for Christmas with all this Spring-like weather? Maybe you flat spotted your wheels on some cinders during a session? Well thanks to DC and Chris Cole, we’re going to hook-up a Homebase shopper this February.

notes from nono: omar salazar 1.5

This week we received the new Nike SB releases and they are looking good across the board.

The stand out of this batch, for me is the Omar Salazar 1.5 , A sleeker version of the Salazar that dropped a couple years ago.

Featuring a new vulc sole ,similar to the switch made between P Rod’s 2 and the 2.5′s. This gives it a big weight drop, while including a Lunoron insole that gives incredible cushioning and maintains the Zoom Air board feel.

With the new sole, mid cut style, and clean lines I can see this being a better start for the Salazar. In my opinion, the first shoe focused too much on the space theme to the detriment of the sole. I was feeling the first version’s profile but I felt it was too thick to offer proper board feel. I don’t think I was alone in that opinion and I’m looking forward to the response the 1.5 receives.

Omar, also, deserves to have a great shoe. He’s always killed it with an individual and contagious style. He skates fast and doesn’t seem to be held in any one skate stereotype. A skaters, skater.

It’s been good having Danny back in the 610 with Ali and Kessler. It lets us have more regular sessions at the ‘Za. Back smith.

If you missed the first two Homebase x L-R-G collaboration t-shirts then you’ll want to be sure you come to the Homebase 9-Year Anniversary BBQ this Sunday. Our L-R-G Family hooked us up with another banger of a collab t-shirt featuring their iconic skate giraffe logo that’s filled with some iconic Homebase stickers and a combination of our logos underneath. Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations will be on-site at the Air Products Town Square on Steel Stacks (101 Founders Way Bethlehem, PA) doing live screen printing of the collaboration t-shirt.

Shirts will be available in both men’s and women’s sizes for $25 each- cash only. Colors and quantities are limited so it’s first come, first served. Make sure you save a few bucks to play some of our games, who knows, maybe you’ll win a shirt!
