gettin’ it in at the skateplaza

Seeing as I’m being a total slacker on getting the footage from the Bethlehem Skateplaza opening up- here’s all the clips I found on YouTube.
It’s good seeing everyone learning new tricks and progressing. Homebase manager, Josh Novak has been on the injured list for a while so it was so inspiring seeing him snap these [...]

Thank you to everyone who was a part of making the Grand Opening of the Bethlehem Skateplaza a HUGE success.
We could not have asked for a better display of what skateboarding in the 610 is all about.
Let’s keep showing the City of Bethlehem that we can take care of the plaza and deserve to have [...]
tomorrow’s a big day for all of us.

Just a “few” words before the Bethlehem Skateplaza opens tomorrow….
I have no words to express this weekend means to me. So many people have been part of this project through your support to the plaza itself or with all your encouragement to me personally. We’ll finally have a place for all of us to meet, [...]

Keep these points in mind:
- The 2 closest parking lots to the Bethlehem Skateplaza will be reserved for City Officials, guest skaters, performers, volunteers and residents.
- We want [...]
let the 10 day countdown begin.

Start counting down with us: TEN!
We can also use everyone’s help spreading the word about the event in several ways. . .

We as a skateboard, BMX community and community in general have been supporting the Bethlehem Skateplaza for a number of years now.
Our fund raising events over the years that have raised close to $7,000 (That’s a lowball figure too) going back to the first Backed in Black, the “Where the Heart is” video premiere and [...]

the whole story: manny mania & homebase’s 8th anniversary benefit party

If a picture is worth a thousand words then you’re really going to get the gist of what you may have missed if you went to the Jersey Shore on Memorial Day Weekend after watching this video of the Red Bull Manny Mania contest and our 8th Anniversary celebration.
We hadn’t thrown a big anniversary celebration [...]
the skateplaza grindline helped build

Just in case you’ve been under a rock, a crew from Grindline Skateparks has been in town helping finish the skateable obstacles in the Bethlehem Skateplaza and it’s made a huge impact on the progress.
In about a week they covered all the forms F.A. Rohrbach set up with smooth cement- ALMOST ready to ride.
grindline is pouring cement at the bethlehem skateplaza this week.

It was an impressive move by the City of Bethlehem and F.A. Rohrbach to bring in the Grindline crew to do what they do best at the Bethlehem Skateplaza.
Pour, shoot and shape cement.
Grindline has built skateparks and plazas in over half the states in the USA and in even more over seas.
thank you all. . . but not you trespassers.

April was a tough month for us die-hard voters.
We saw our Pepsi Project sky rocket to 9th place only to see it fall and fall and fall. It’s no one’s fault. A lot of people had no idea that we got rolled into April. It was a great effort team. Keep those heads up and [...]
bethlehem skateplaza progress: 4/19/2010

We’ve been getting a lot of people stopping by Homebase from out of town lately. They’ve either heard about Homebase and the skateplaza from The Berrics or word-of-mouth about an insane new skateplaza getting built.
It’s funny how many people still don’t believe this is even happening. Look at these pictures.
You tell me. Is this happening?
thank you- and you, and you, and you too.

Thank you all so much for your votes this month.
Our voting base was incredible from the local to the international support. We got as much coverage as anyone could want from both the skate and BMX industry. I personally can’t thank everyone enough and I’m sure the City of Bethlehem [...]
we’re winning regardless

We’re down to the last 2 days of the Pepsi Refresh Project.
How could we not move up with The Berrics still pushing our project with banners and pre-roll commercials? We’re in the Top 10, anything is possible so we’re winning this regardless. In more ways than you might think. . .
7 days left: we’re all in this together

Through the 8+ years developing the Bethlehem Skateplaza the most memorable moments for me were the times masses of people came together to show their support for a project that would only directly benefit the few- the skateboarders.
From getting over 5,000+ signatures and petitions to show the City of Bethlehem in the beginning, to the [...]
the berrics field ops at homebase part 1

Just in case you missed it on The Berrics it’s now on YouTube so you can link it up on your own website, blog, Facebook or Twitter and help spread the word about Hombase and The Bethlehem Skateplaza.
progression: pouring ledges at the bethlehem skateplaza

More progress was made on the Bethlehem Skateplaza (Did you vote yet today?) on Wednesday March 17th.
Cement was poured on the first 50 feet of ledges on the one side of Phase 1. Yes, the first 50 ledges- meaning there will be another 25 feet of ledges getting formed and poured before all is said [...]
be a part of our berrics field ops filming today.

Daniel from The Berrics arrived this morning.
Josh and I went down to Philly to scoop him up from the airport after hanging out with OG Homebase/Hometeam homie, Steve Hencheck. After getting to talk to Daniel and hear down for our cause Berra and The Berrics is I’m confident the push the site will give us [...]
this is why we need you to vote daily for the bethlehem skateplaza

Let’s try and put the Bethlehem Skateplaza in perspective.
This is the view from the overpass looking down at the skateplaza from the back end. You can see the ominous Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces over yonder and the area where Phase 1 is currently being worked on; still way over yonder. This is going to [...]
the cavalry is coming- aka the berrics.

I told Ryan and Steve at The Berrics tonight that I felt like we’re at war.
Everyone voting is the army and we’re all doing our best to rally together, we have to make strategic moves to get us better positioning. We have to hold the line because THE CAVALRY IS COMING.
kerry getz for the bethlehem skateplaza

Kerry Getz is a skater I have looked to for a long time because he’s just like you and me . . .
So maybe he’s a little better on a board but he still grew up out here in PA. Actually, he grew up in an area that was a lot worse for skateboarding than [...]
